Yoga Teacher and Ancient Therapist
To this day I am intrigued by how I jumped into my first yoga class 10 years ago (2000). As a shy and cautious girl I rarely strayed into the unknown, and to be honest I knew nothing about yoga, but there seemed to be some kind of energetic pull that drew me there that day and continued to draw me deeper as the years passed by.
I began to understand and value the unification of the body, breath and stillness of the mind. Balance and union eventually carried from my mat into my life; clarity and awareness developed. Yoga has guided me to create a deeper connection and has allowed me to develop relationships with myself and others.
Over the years, my practice naturally led to teaching, and I taught my first class in 2004. Although I was nervous, it was an exhilarating experience. I enjoyed sharing the wonderful gift of yoga, the gift of the breath, and knew then and there that teaching would be a path I would explore more deeply in the future. From that point on I led the occasional class under the guidance of my instructors Deb and Lacie Cosgrove. However, it wasn’t until finishing my Bachelor of Design that I was able to take my training and practice to an even deeper level. I first completed my 200YTT Ashtanga training with Rameen Peyrow, then traveled to India to study with Yogi Vishvketu at his ashram for the 200YTT Akhanda (Holistic Yoga) training. I fell completely in love with anything yoga.
I truly believe that yoga has guided me in ways that I may not even realize and thus have chosen to dedicate this life to the discovery of the atma, the true self, the true soul. I look forward to what lies ahead, to learn and share with my teachers and students. Always looking from the heart…namaste.
April is a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance and has taken trainings and workshops both locally and internationally (200YTT Akhanda Yoga with Yogi Vishvketu, 200YTT Ashtanga and 200 YTT Sattva with Rameen Peyrow).
